Arsenal fans et al.

Arsenal fans (i.e. Patrick) can sleep soundly for the time being.  Striker Thierry Henry has reaffirmed his commitment to the team after Barcelona demonstrated interest in acquiring the player.
An aside: these homoerotic, narcissistic comments by Barcelona’s star player Ronaldinho regarding Henry are worth noting.
The issue of homophobia in professional sport is fascinating because of all the innuendo, denial and just plain ignorance.
Since I am about to head to the mall and pick up some books, I don’t want to get into a rant.  If you want to consider this issue further, check out the many articles at Outsports which address this topic.

Right now I am reading James Frey’s autobiography, A Million Little Pieces which details his recovery from drug addiction.  My mom recommended it to me, and at first I was skeptical because I think the theme is a bit played out, but when I got to my parents’ house for Christmas I had nothing to read, so I thought, “what the hell.”  So far, it’s rather graphic and disturbing, and the writing style is refreshing.  It hasn’t veered too far from what I expected, but I am not that far in yet, so I guess we’ll see.

I am plan on picking up a few biographies while I am at the mall.  I found one on Sir Isaac Newton that seemed a good read and another of Alexander Hamilton thicker than a bible and in miniscule type.
I love long books since I spend most of my free time reading.
I am also going to pick up something on html since if I am going to take this blogging thing seriously I want to do it right.
So far, any changes you see from the original template (such as adding links) were made solely through my intuitive understanding of the way code works, and while it is nothing astounding, I am proud of my one day of progress so far.
